AMAPHARM FOREST
& BEES
For years, Amapharm has been the proud owner of a woodland area in the Saarland region. We do not just preserve this forest and prevent deforestation; in 2024, we also introduced several honeybee colonies to the land.
According to the EU Commission, the loss of biodiversity is—alongside climate change—the most critical threat to humanity. Honeybees are of immense importance for biodiversity, as they are the most significant pollinators and serve as a vital food source for other endangered insects and birds.
The environmental impact of these insects is remarkable: through its enormous pollination capacity, a single bee colony binds approximately 60 tons of CO2 per year. To put that into perspective, the average annual CO2 footprint of a person in Germany is about 11.2 tons.
Establishing two bee colonies—roughly 70,000 bees—was therefore not only a move toward sustainability but also a personal passion project for us. As an added bonus that delights the entire team, the project yields a significant amount of honey every year.
This extraordinary cooperation would not be possible without our "bee whisperer," Maximilian Bernhardt
